A Cup of Happy

A Cup of Happy

Happy International Happiness Day!

The 20th of March is a day to celebrate all things that make us happy.

And while you can’t buy happiness, you can buy coffee…and that’s like happiness in a cup. That delicious, uplifting beverage we all love brings happiness into our lives in more ways than one.

Firstly, let's talk about the boost of energy that caffeine gives us. Helping us feel more alert and focused, or at least slightly more awake. Let’s face it who doesn’t love waking up to a great cup of coffee, or at least knowing there’s one waiting for you to pick up and enjoy on your way to work. Not only does the thought bring us happiness, but the shot of energy helps us get more done. This, in turn, adds a little happiness to our day because, let’s face it, who doesn’t love ticking off a to-do list.

But coffee is more than just a pick-me-up. It's also a social lubricant that brings people together and creates moments of joy and connection. Think about it – how often have you met up with a friend or colleague for a cup of coffee and ended up having a great conversation and a few laughs? Whether it's a casual catch-up or a business meeting, coffee can break down barriers and help us connect with others meaningfully.

Coffee can be a source of comfort during stressful or difficult times. The familiar taste and aroma of a favourite brew can provide a sense of calm and reassurance when feeling anxious or overwhelmed- though decaf may be your friend in this case. Additionally, taking a few moments to enjoy a cup of coffee can be a form of self-care that helps us slow down and appreciate the little things in life. The act of picking your flavour, brewing your cup and then taking time to enjoy can be a little escape from the day, a chance to take a break and relax for a few moments.

Coffee can also be a way to explore different cultures and connect with people worldwide. Different regions have their own unique coffee traditions and flavours, and trying new varieties can be a fun way to expand our horizons and learn about other parts of the world. Plus, sharing a cup of coffee with someone from a different culture can be a way to bond over a shared love of this delicious beverage. If you’re up for a quick trip around the world, read more about coffee around the globe in our previous blog post here.

As well as bringing your joy, you can spread happiness with every sip you take. Coffee can be a way to support sustainable and ethical practices in the global coffee industry. Many coffee companies, including us, now offer fair-trade, organic, and sustainably sourced beans. By choosing these products, we support farmers and communities around the world while also bringing you a delicious cup of coffee. You get a great cup of coffee to enjoy, and the coffee businesses you support do a little happy dance at the support they’ve received.

Lastly, let's not forget about the sheer pleasure of drinking a well-made cup of coffee. From the aroma of freshly roasted beans to the rich, complex flavours that can be found in a perfectly brewed cup, coffee can be a sensory delight that brings us joy and satisfaction. Not to mention for those really into coffee and the fun of trying new flavoured blends.

If you haven’t had the joy of experimenting with flavoured coffee, here are a few options that might add some extra happiness to your day:

1. Sweet and Indulgent: If you have a sweet tooth and love desserts, flavours like our Chocolate Truffle, Tiramisu, and Sea Salt Caramel Mocha, are for you. All of these flavoured add a rich and indulgent note to your coffee and make it feel like a treat.

2. Spicy and Warming: If you enjoy the cosy and comforting feeling of warm spice, then flavours like Cinnamon Hazelnut Creme, Ole Chocolate Mole, and Jack Daniels are ideal. Each one adds a toasty note to your coffee, making it feel like a hug in a mug.

3. Nutty and Earthy: If you enjoy a smooth and nutty experience, flavours like Smooth Hazelnut, Chocolate Macadamia, and Amaretto Amour should be at the top of your list. These flavours add a nuttylicious note to your coffee and make it feel more sophisticated.

Add some extra happiness to your cup and take time to enjoy a great cup of coffee, catch up with a friend, try a new flavour or just savour the moment while waiting for your next cup to brew.

On this International Happiness Day, raise a mug of coffee – the beverage that can bring us energy, connection, and pure bliss. Whether you're a die-hard coffee fanatic or just enjoy the occasional cup, take a moment to savour the happiness that coffee can bring into your life.

Cheers!
